Balakovo is a city in the Saratov Oblast region of Russia. It is located on the right bank of the Volga River and is the administrative center of Balakovsky District. The city is home to many historical and cultural monuments, including the remains of the ancient city of Balakovo, which dates back to the 12th century. The city also has several museums and galleries, as well as several churches, including the Church of the Holy Trinity, which dates back to the 18th century. Balakovo also has many monuments dedicated to the Soviet era, including a monument to the defenders of the city during the Great Patriotic War. The city is also known for its rich folk culture, and it hosts a number of festivals and events, such as the annual Festival of Folk Art.
